Pawsitive Brews, a brand featuring dog-inspired names, is donating half of its proceeds to support animal rescue initiatives. Today's sampling begins with Orange Pooch-Koe, a Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka. This tea was enjoyed both hot and iced, with sugar added. I enjoyed the tea so much i made a huge batch of iced tea for my daughter too. She loved it as well. It produced a beautiful copper-colored brew. The flavor is well-balanced and smooth. It is all around a great tea. Since they sent such a large amount I brought this tea with me to Bonnaroo and made tea for everyone in my camp. It was a big hit and everyone wanted to support the cause, which i thought was wonderful.
don’t really talk much about my passion for animal welfare, but I am glad to have a great reason to bring it up today while drinking some Pawsitive Brews’ Orange Pooch-koe (a clever renaming of orange pekoe 😉) 🍊🍃
This mellow yet slightly toasty pekoe brews up a lovely, darker shade of amber and gives you that hint of citrus at the front. Perfect for those who love stronger black teas! Best of all, 50% of the profits from every tea sold goes to help dogs in need at shelters all over Texas and the United States - yes you read that right, FIFTY percent! Thank you Pawsitive for all you do, I’m sure all the pups you’ve helped are eternally grateful!
This Ceylon OP is sourced from the renowned Kenilworth Estate, a pioneering tea estate in Sri Lanka. Located midway up the Central Highlands, Kenilworth is deemed a "medium grown" tea estate, with a temperate climate. This yields a smooth, medium-bodied Ceylon black tea, notable for its fairly brisk flavor profile. I do steep this tea at 212F and let steep for 3-4 minutes. It holds up very well to the addition of milk. It’s one of those good all day every day teas.
Pawsitive Brews is distinguished by its philanthropic efforts, donating 50% of its profits to Animal Rescues in Texas, with plans to expand its charitable reach into other states. The company's motto, Savour A Cup Save A Pup, is a genuine expression of its dedication to social responsibility.
Upon opening the package, the aroma of a smooth, medium-bodied tea is noticeable, and this characteristic is preserved in the brew. The tea liquid appears auburn in color, with a subtle sweetness and hints of citrus, followed by a brisk and bright finish. As a personal preference, I enjoy Ceylon teas without milk, and this particular tea did not disappoint. In summary, this is a delightful tea that I would certainly recommend.
This is a terrific tea company with 50% of its profits going to Animal Rescues. That means every purchase helps a Pup. Great tea and social responsibility, à wonderful combination!
This is a super solid black tea.
I was able to try this three ways: hot, hot with milk, and cold-brewed. When brewed hot, this is a bold English-style black tea. I really enjoyed how dark this one brewed up, but it wasn’t bitter or astringent in any way. This was a great first-cup-of-the-morning tea. I also enjoyed this with milk, and I feel like it made it even smoother. This was a super solid hot cup of tea (both with and without the milk).
It has been super hot here lately, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one day as a cold-brew. I used my usual method with two teaspoons worth of tea for my cup. This was a great cold cup of tea, and it didn’t loose its boldness at all. I can envision this as a great base for any summer brew you can think of!
Highly recommend this one!
