Pairing Pawsitive Brews tea with dog-friendly outdoor activities and bonding moments

Pairing Teas with Dog Friendly Activities

One of the better things about being a dog owner is that dogs create natural structure in a day. The morning walk happens. The afternoon rest happens. The evening wind-down happens. If you also drink tea, these built-in moments are a natural fit: activities you are doing anyway that pair well with the right cup.

Here is how specific teas in our lineup match different parts of a dog owner's day.

Morning Walk: Green Tea

A morning walk with your dog benefits from a light, clean caffeine boost rather than the intensity of a strong espresso. Our Hound of Zencha (a Japanese-style sencha) brews in about 2 to 3 minutes and provides a focused, clear-headed energy without the sharp peak and crash that can come with coffee. The L-theanine content in green tea tends to keep the energy smooth through an hour or two of morning activity.

Brew it just before you leave or bring it in a travel mug. It tastes good at slightly cooler temperatures, which makes it practical for drinking on a walk rather than needing to wait for it to cool.

Dog Park Visit: Chai

A dog park visit is a social, active afternoon activity. Our Chai-huahua Spice is a warming, aromatic blend that travels well in a thermos and stays flavorful even after an hour in an insulated container. The spices (cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, pepper) make it feel robust and satisfying, and with oat milk it becomes close to a chai latte you actually brought from home.

Chai is also a good social tea: it smells interesting enough that it often prompts the same "what are you drinking?" conversation that dog parks are built on.

Afternoon Nap with Your Dog: Rooibos

The mid-afternoon rest is one of the better arguments for owning a dog. It gives you permission to stop and sit because the dog also needs to rest. A warm, caffeine-free rooibos is the ideal companion: not stimulating, not distracting, just warm and pleasant while you and your dog settle in together.

Our Red Rooibos has a naturally sweet, earthy warmth that works without any additives. Our Citrus Setter Rooibos adds a brighter citrus note that is a bit more refreshing for a warmer afternoon.

Training Session: Peppermint or Green Tea

A backyard training session with your dog calls for something that keeps you alert and focused without unnecessary sugar. Our Green Pawpermint Boost (green tea with peppermint) covers both: the L-theanine-modulated caffeine from the green tea base and the alerting quality of peppermint aroma. Peppermint has a mild stimulant effect on attention and is one of the few herbal additions that actually has some research support for cognitive alertness.

Cold brew it the night before and keep it in a bottle for easy sipping between training repetitions. Cold-brewed green peppermint tea is genuinely good over ice on a warm afternoon.

Evening Walk: Herbal

An evening walk is a wind-down, not a start-up. Caffeine at this point in the day will affect your sleep. Our Chamomile Flowers or Puppermint Bark (a caffeine-free peppermint and cocoa herbal blend) are the right choices for a pre-walk or post-walk cup that signals to your body that the active part of the day is ending.

Brew a cup of chamomile while your dog is getting ready for the walk, and it will be cool enough to drink when you return. The ritual of having something warm and simple to come home to makes the evening walk feel more complete.

Weekend Adventure: Cold Brew

For a day trip, hike, or outdoor adventure with your dog, cold brewed loose leaf tea is the most practical option. Brew a batch the night before (any of our teas work for cold brewing: just add 2 teaspoons per cup of cold water and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours), pour into a water bottle, and you have a flavored, hydrating drink without sugar or artificial ingredients for the whole day.

Our Citrus Setter Rooibos is one of the best cold brew options: naturally sweet, caffeine-free, and refreshing in a way that holds up over hours of outdoor activity. Our Hound of Zencha green tea cold brew is excellent for something with a gentle caffeine lift for an early morning start.
